The items I created to compliment the cup could be worn individually or together as one piece and each part was made to retain a thematic connection to the base cup.

The narratives surrounding this piece started a line of enquiry that focussed on my love of language, playing with terms and phrases and manipulating the meaning of common expressions.

I find much of my inspiration in language and therefore reading and researching such things as phrases, sayings, quotes, maxims, etc. is a really big part of my practice.

The cup theme cultivated in many terms/phrases relating to tea, coffee and cups. Using my own unique form of pareidolia  I manipulated these expressions to have either a more direct or more obtuse meaning.  miknic666@yahoo.co.uk

Kat Downs — Away With Words

This project came about as a result of me picking out the most important aspects of my practice in the last few years. I am interested in trying new techniques and using found objects. I acquired an espresso cup and used it as a base to create a set of multifunctional jewellery.

The items I created to compliment the cup could be worn individually or together as one piece and each part was made to retain a thematic connection to the base cup.
